 Eco House - Newquay

Sleeps up to 6 people

A brand new ‘super eco’ house perched, quite dramatically, above a stream in the small village of Gilfachreda, 2 miles outside Newquay, it is the ideal base to explore the spectacular unspoilt coastline of Cardigan Bay, offering a relaxing retreat from the bustle of Newquay, yet it is in walking distance by beach (when the tide is out) or a short car ride (approx 5 minutes) or bus journey away. The Wales Coastal Path is a short walk away. Cei Bach (Little Quay) is the nearest beach.

The house provides the following accommodation on 2 floors:

Upstairs: 2 upstairs bedrooms (a double and a twin room) and a bathroom with a large bath with shower over.

Downstairs: The open plan kitchen and lounge open on to a large deck overlooking the stream below. Downstairs a ¾ size bed settee can provide additional sleeping accommodation if required. The downstairs bathroom has a large walk-in shower. The property enjoys all the facilities you would expect of a luxurious holiday property including a dishwasher, fridge, toaster, cafetiere, iron, hair dryer, washing machine, microwave, Flat screen TV/DVD and radio.

Heating: The house is very well insulated but there is underfloor heating for colder days. The hot water is mainly heated by solar thermal panels and the toilet flushed by rain water. We aim to be as kind as possible to the environment.

Outside: There is a spacious deck area, overlooking wooded banks and the stream below, it is the perfect place to sit and relax to the sound of rushing water. A hot tub adds the finishing touch to a luxurious self catering experience. The hot tub is situated on a lower deck above the stream. Adventurous, older children will love clambering down the bank and playing in the stream below – there is a small gravel beach by the stream, which is ideal for barbecues. Parents should be aware that the terrain to the stream below is steep and no climbing over safety fences should be permitted. The  water rises very quickly after heavy rain so caution must be exercised and children should be supervised at all times.

Parking: There is  ample parking for 2 cars.

Pets: Pets are not generally accepted but we may consider special requests, there would be an additional charge of £10 a week for a pet.

Internet: The house is connected to BT infinity fibre Broadband, which is free of charge to guests.

Electricity: In Winter the first 50 units (per night) of electricity are included in the price of the stay, in Summer the first 20 units (per night) are included. Guests should find this adequate, any additional units will be charged at the normal domestic rate.

The house is located on level ground with a private car parking with sufficient space for a wheel chair user to alight from the car. A decking ramp leads from the car parking area to the front door and also leads to a flat deck around most of the property.

The downstairs is all on one level and has wide openings for wheel chair access. There is a downstairs bathroom, with one step up to the shower, with a high level WC and lever taps on the wash basin. There is a bed settee on the ground floor but no separate ground floor bedroom.

The house would be suitable for a person who has reduced mobility but who could climb the stairs at the end of the day, it has not been furnished with specialised fittings for the disabled but catering for guests with reduced mobility has been a prime consideration e.g level decking areas around the exterior, where guests can relax in a stunning setting overlooking the stream below.

Brilliant private location 5 minutes outside ofNew Quay, house was spotless with lovely decor, pictures don't do it justice, beds were extremely comfortable and the house has everything you need to getaway from everything for awhile.
