Walk the Wales coastal path, spot dolphins and seals, and discover secluded coves and sandy beaches. The rugged Cambrian Mountains are just on your doorstep, watch rare Red Kites soaring in the skies above. The timeless landscape of West is Wales is waiting to be explored.

Aberystwyth is the cultural capital of Wales, a vibrant, cosmopolitan University town – ‘a natural crucible of colliding worlds’. The wide promenade, fronted by tall, elegant, Victorian and Edwardian buildings protects the town from the ravages of the Irish Sea and offers space to stroll, sit and soak up the sun. There is an excellent theatre, galleries and numerous restaurants cafes, pubs and shops in Aberystwyth, it’s an ideal base for exploring the area.

Aberystwyth is also home to the National Library of Wales and many of our guests come to Aberystwyth to use its research facilities.

If you have enjoyed the TV detective series ‘Hinterland - Y Gwyll’ then come and experience the stunning scenery first hand. Aberystwyth’s promenade, the beach at Borth, the waterfalls at Devil’s Bridge, are all featured in ‘Hinterland - Y Gwyll’.

Every local town and coastal village in Cardigan Bay has its own unique charm and character, none more than Aberaeron, which lies on the coast between Aberystwyth and New Quay is renown for its colourful Georgian style houses and graceful architecture. The coastline is dotted with picturesque fishing villages and small coves and harbours. Inland you will find many traditional villages nestling in the rolling hills and uplands. The Welsh language is still the first language of the majority of the population of rural Ceredigion.
